The Pine Bush girls swimming and diving team recorded its 90th consecutive dual-meet victory on Wednesday, September 16. The winning streak began nearly 10 years ago.

This milestone meet was against Valley Central, and Pine Bush won handily, 108 - 70. Several swimmers had standout wins, including Pine Bush's Anna Hajek, who won the 50-meter and 100-meter freestyle races in 26.52 and 58.42 seconds respectively. Norah Germano won the 500-meter freestyle race in 5:48.95 minutes, Juliette Cassel won the 200 Individual Medley (IM) in 2:30.71 minutes, and Liana Williams secured victories in the 100-meter butterfly and 100-meter breaststroke races in 1:02.08 and 1:08.53 minutes respectively.

Lila Hanson joined Hajek, Germano and Williams on the 200-meter Medley Relay team and the girls took first place in 1:58.55 minutes. Williams, Hanson, Dakota Wilson, and Sophia Gallagher, also won the 200-meter Freestyle Relay in 1:50.84 minutes.

“This is certainly a testament to the hard work and commitment from all the girls who have been part of this run,” said head coach, John Barth. “My hope is that everyone who has been involved in this streak, from the swimmers and divers, to the parents, guardians and grandparents, look back on this time in their lives with pride knowing how hard everyone worked, not only in the pool, but in the gym and in making sure they were at practice, even when they didn’t feel like it.”

Back on September 5, the team took home their tenth consecutive win at the Hudson Valley Classic swim meet, which took place in Newburgh. The team earned a total of 298 points, earning them the top spot for the tenth year in a row!

Swimmer Liana Williams also gave a state-qualifying performance in the 100-meter breaststroke with a time of 1:08:12.

Head coach John Barth said, "I have been very lucky to work with groups of young ladies who are committed to being the best that they can be. We have created a culture where hard work, commitment, and dedication to improving is extremely important and where supporting the team comes first.”

Congratulations to the team!
