When the Ulster County Legislature convenes in January, the GOP will hold an even slimmer 20-3 margin. In District 3, Democrat Kate Leon held a slim 43-vote lead over incumbent Republican Jason Kovacs. Incumbent Republican Craig Lopez ran unopposed in District 14. Kevin Roberts (District 12) and Richard Walls (District 13) fended off challenges from Dems Marisa McClinton and Adrienne Gelfand-Perrine respectively.

All three Kingston lawmakers, District 5’s Abe Uchitelle, District 6’s Greg McCollough and District 7’s Peter Criswell were all unopposed for re-election. Of all legislature candidates, District 22 Democrat Jeff Collins tallied the most votes with 3,736.

In the only Kingston city office on the ballot this year, City Judge Phil Kirschner was re-elected without opposition, garnering 6,708 votes.

In the race for Esopus town supervisor, incumbent Roscoe Pecora was re-elected with 2,518 votes. A campaign to write in Danielle Freer fell far short; a total of 853 write-in votes were reported.

In a result which should have come as a surprise to absolutely no one, voters in the town and village of New Paltz both rejected consolidation. In the town, 2,118 voted no and 1,155 voted yes. In the village, 1,423 voted no and 818 voted yes.

As of 11 p.m. Tuesday, incumbent Democrat U.S. Rep. Pat Ryan had a comfortable lead over GOP challenger Jackie Auringer. With 314 of 581 precincts reporting, Ryan led Auringer 110,112 to 82,624.

In state legislature races, Democratic incumbent Assemblymember Sarahana Shrestha is on her way to victory, leading Republican challenger Santos Lopez 32,062-17,402 with 113 of 124 precincts reporting in the 103rd Assembly District. In the 41st Senate District, incumbent Democrat Michelle Hinchey leads GOP challenger Pat Sheehan 73,843-41,675 with 234 of 278 precincts reporting.
